ASA, the nation’s leading grassroots autism organization, exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism. We do this by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy.

Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), is a national non-profit, tax-exempt (Section 501 (c) (3) ) organization providing education, advocacy and support for individuals with AD/HD. In addition to our informative Web site, CHADD also publishes a variety of printed materials to keep members and professionals current on research advances, medications and treatments affecting individuals with AD/HD. These materials include Attention! magazine, the CHADD Information and Resource Guide to AD/HD, News From CHADD, a free electronically mailed current events newsletter, as well as other publications of specific interest to educators, professionals and parents.

The mission of the Birth to Three System is to strengthen the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infants and toddlers who have delays or disabilities.  This is a State of Connecticut program.

The Connecticut (CT) Parent Advocacy Center, Inc. (CPAC) is a statewide nonprofit organization that offers information and support to families of children with any disability or chronic illness, age birth through 21.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

The State Board of Education believes each student is unique and needs an educational environment that provides for, and accommodates, his or her strengths and areas of needed improvement. The Board also believes that a unified and coordinated continuum of educational opportunities and supports serves and benefits all students.

If you are a parent or teacher of a child with a learning disability – or have learning disabilities yourself - you are not alone. Typical learning difficulties include dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia – often complicated by associated disorders such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Since 1963, LDA has provided support to people with learning disabilities, their parents, teachers and other professionals. At the national, state and local levels, LDA provides cutting edge information on learning disabilities, practical solutions, and a comprehensive network of resources.

NICHCY stands for the National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities. We serve the nation as a central source of information on:

• disabilities in infants, toddlers, children, and youth,
• IDEA, which is the law authorizing special education,
• No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities), and
• research-based information on effective educational practices.

Our site offers a large variety of resource including parenting articles, advice, free coloring pages, links to useful websites, message boards, and just about anything else a parent or grandparent could want.

SERC has been in operation since 1969 through funding from the Connecticut State Department of Education.  SERC's commitment is to serve as a centralized resource for professionals, families, and community members regarding education and early intervention/prevention for all of Connecticut's children and youth and their families, particularly children with special needs, at-risk learners, and diverse learners.  SERC strives for the highest possible level of excellence in its provision of professional development and other technical assistance initiatives, family education and support, and information and materials dissemination.

Willington Public Schools, in conjunction with Connecticut’s departments of the Bureau of Special Education and the Office of Early Childhood, is excited to announce a new partnership with Sparkler! Sparkler is a free app available from the Apple and Google Play Store. Sparkler is an evidenced-based mobile platform designed to promote healthy early childhood development for children ages 0-5. You will find family resources including tracking tools to monitor children's social/emotional development, cognitive communication, and physical development as well as age-appropriate content for your young learner.
