Dear Willington Families,

With a backdrop of potential State budget cuts, we begin the 2017-2018 school year prepared to open our schools as always, by providing a warm, stable, positive, engaging and challenging school environment for our students.  By careful planning and a healthy dose of persistence, even though the budget crisis is a serious distraction, we are ready for the school year to begin.

 

The ten weeks of summer went by quickly as we were quite busy preparing for the facility study, continuing curriculum efforts, upgrading Power School and most important, recruiting, interviewing and hiring for 10 staffing changes.  We are so pleased to have a multi- talented group of professionals joining our already outstanding faculty. Among this group are familiar faces who have chosen to transition and “try new assignments” in Willington, for all the right reasons.

In September we are planning to present a Facilities Study to our community providing information that we believe will be helpful to the Board of Education, Town Leadership and our community as they make decisions about the future of our schools.  There is excitement about the implementation of the new Hall schedule which optimizes instructional times for students and both schools will continue strengthening our curriculum. Finally, we will support every financial efficiency while keeping our “eye” on the prize, providing quality 21st century education for our students. 

We plan to have a superb 2017-2018 school year and look forward to your being engaged in our schools.
